Master Sonam Kinga

sonam kinga
Another odd student which compels me to review his performance in-spite of his being from Class N(c). What does he want to be in life? Academic? Historian? Politician? Sharchop? Bumthap? Royalist? Leftist? Traditionalist? Modernist? No one knows. He exhibits behavior leaning towards all of these. With our occasional foreign volunteer teachers, he puts on a show of being the ultimate American democratic history student. To our Dzongkha lopon he acts like a super religious monk and cultural traditionalist. I have no idea where he is from or what kind of boy he is but he does spend an inordinate amount of time with “the wise old men“.

Drukpa Kinley
This story from Drukpa Kinley

Drukpa Kinley, from the 1400s, is one of Bhutan's foremost saints and yogis. He was known for his crazy methods of enlightening other beings, which earned him the title "The Divine Madman".

  1. I think he is good in most of the things you mentioned. Modern, yet traditional. He is one of our promising future leader

  2. While the man may be what is said about him, we Bhutanese also tend to overrate our so called intellectuals. We can truly see excellence, when there more excellent people to compare with. Being a small country, our pool of professionals, intellectuals and leaders are rather limited and sometimes we may just be extolling the virtues of the mediocre.
