This is an old article repackaged under a new title.
These are the top 16 reasons why DPT wont get my vote in this years elections. Please comment to agree or disagree.
1. Sanctity of the King
With the Land Act, the DPT has gone against the King’s Kasho. The Land Act is to be rewritten in spite of the King explicitly stating that it is not necessary. Also GNH as the national development theory is handled by the PM alone and not the King.
2. Indo-Bhutan relation
This is the foundation of the socio-economic progress of Bhutan and the result of the work of three Kings. India has not had such ties with any other country. Bhutan receives more aid from India than any other nation! With its moves toward China, DPT has jeopardized this safety net of Bhutan
3. Corruption
The start of the DPT government was marked by actions against RICB staff claiming extra DSA, health officials in procurement scam and by the very public humiliation of a Geology and Mines official for sharing inside information with his family. Many have lost jobs, some are in jail. Yet…
- The PM’s aunt receiving exhorbitant rates for her rural land in Pema Gatshel is justified as a “sacrifice” by the aunt and the PM for the nation.
- The Chang Ugyen case of taking 7 acres of public land in Thimphu and selling it has died a quiet death. Influential buyers (including RMA Governor Daw Tenzin) have been allowed to keep their land as innocent buyers. Chang Ugyen has been asked to return a few acres to the nation. He roams free.
- The Gyalpozhing case brought by the ACC details the clear corruption involved in allocating land to the ministers and influential people. In spite of the fact that the land allocated far exceeded the plot sizes set for the township, and the fact that the land was actually not even in the township but in prime area near the Kurichhu project, the PM and ministers have stated that “it is the right of any Bhutanese to ask for land. Is it a crime to ask for land?” The OAG has agreed.
- Lottery case: running into hundreds of crores, this case was closed quietly with only the Director of Lottery resigning (he had only a few months left to superannuate) even though Lyonpo Zimba, Lyonpo Wangdi Norbu and Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk’s wife Aum Yangki were directly involved.
- The Health Ministry is identified as being a den of corruption. Dr Gado Tshering, the health Secretary for many years and prior to that directly in-charge of all procurement and hospital works, is given a clean record and allowed to resign. He has now joined the DPT as a political candidate.
4. Tobacco Act
A 23 year old monk is sentenced to 3 years of jail in March 2011 for possessing Nu. 120 worth of tobacco. This is followed by petty businessmen, labourers and housewives. The government realizes it is a problem only when the non-Bhutanese break this draconian law as it does not know how to deal with the foreign governments on the issue. So authorities start to go soft on tourists and Indian workers. Bhutanese continue to be prosecuted. In spite of the general acceptance that the law while well meaning, is too stiff in sentencing and seems to criminalise tobacco users while larger crimes go unaddressed, the DPT refused to amend the law.
5. Pedestrian day
Again all of Bhutan and the world agree we must save the environment but DPT finds the perfectly wrong way to go about it. Without consulting any public agency, and without enough city buses to hop on and off for tens of thousands of civil servants and businessmen, they impose P-day. Taxis make a killing. Students skip school, parents are late to work, construction companies lose one day as do all businesses. Loss of productive efficiency all across the government and economy. Traffic volume actually goes up because of people using their vehicles anyway to go to work before and after the set hours, while using taxis in between. Again, the DPT refuses to accept its mistake in spite of good advice from the people.
6. Trowa Cinema land case
A clear example of how influential people buy public land at throwaway prices. And an example of why the DPT wants to amend the laws to allow public land to be sold or auctioned as per the desires of the government and thromdes. The buyer is Kinlay Wangchuk, father of PM’s daughter’s husband. His other son is married to a royal family member.
7. Ad-hoc and indiscriminate appointment of favourable people into important positions without proper procedures
Zimba’s unqualified brother as Governor of Royal Monetary Authority (RMA), pliable and related to Zimba, Foreign Secretary Yeshay Dorji bypassing a much senior Tobden Rabgey, husband of PM’s sister ex-minister Dago Tshering as Special Envoy of the PM, Tibetan Pema Gyalpo as Advisor to the PM, political appointments in the office of PM, Tenzin Rigden from the media to the PM office, and then back to the media, the pliant BBS MD without qualifications,
8. Targeting media houses which attempt investigative journalism
Not negative journalism. Explicit instructions from the minister to ban advertisements to The Bhutanese newspaper.
9. Collusion with big business and influential people
Foreign banks fronted by the Tashi Group and Riverview family, Chinese companies fronted by PM’s family, airline license to Tashi Group, telecom license to Tashi Group, tax and power tariff subsidies to DPT supporters and relatives such as Damcho Dem, Passang Dorji, Gallang Rinchhen, Tashi Group, Phub Zam of Yarkay Group, Yeshey Norbu of Norbu Bhutan Travel, etc.
10. Public lands being taken over by relatives and influential people
Huge areas of public lands from over 10 to 60 acres each have been fenced in in Thimphu by PM’s family such as ex army head Gen. Lam Dorji, Riverview family, Damcho Dem, Bap Kesang, royal family members, Tobgye S Dorji, Passang Dorji, and so on. All waiting to legitimize their illegal land as soon as the Land Act is changed and government has the right over land. With the new act, the government will control all forest land and all thromde land.
11. Use of official tours to introduce PM’s son and son-in-law to prospective business partners
Trips to India, US, Japan, Korea, etc., all included these two men and they meet the biggest tycoons of that country who attend the meetings knowing very well that the PM of Bhutan is behind the two men. PM’s son-in-law is Kesang (Riverview family), the brother of Sangay Wangchuk (married to royalty). The two are known to make their case to any foreign investor that they are the son-in-law of the fourth King and the PM.
12. Fundamental change in Bhutan’s foreign policy without consulting the Parliament
13. Rupee crisis
While the PM claims this is an old issue, why did Bhutan not suffer such hardship in the past? Why are the needs of mid and small-scale businesses not being addressed? Loan payments are being affected and people are losing their homes and assets. DPT government interventions are always at the highest level such as new banks, new airlines, new mobile companies. The interests of small contractors, travel agents, petty shopkeepers and retail agents are dismissed. Now the RMA says we have a dollar shortage.
14. Civil service neglected
MPs have regularly criticized the bureaucracy, blaming it for so many ills. One MP even said on national TV that corruption is done by the bureaucracy which holds the purse strings and manpower. Civil service independence is not even discussed, let alone practiced.
15. First lady’s intrusion
Meanwhile the PM’s wife travels around the country with a large convoy led by a RBP pilot, with armed forces’ wives and bureaucrats’ wives and Dzongkhag officials forced to attend to her.
16. The attitude
So many more can be listed, but lets just end with the grand statement of the PM, while travelling around the world, “What crisis? What problem?” That is the final straw.
These are my list of deal breakers and I will not vote for the DPT this election. Even if I don’t find another party to support I will abstain from voting. Another 5 years of broken promises will be my own fault. These five years have been DPT’s. Give some other party a chance.

I like most of the points. I can’t say whether I am a supporter of DPT or not but would like to submit my comments.
1. Even though the people who were/are involved in the land scam belong to DPT, the case in real is not during DPT’s tenure. There is nothing to do with DPT government in reality.
2. I am thankful and grateful for the friendship we have with India, but in nutshell, since it is only limited to India alone, today we face the major problem of Rupee crisis. How much it has effected our Bhutanese economy? In a way, tying up relation with China isn’t so bad. Who knows, if import from India shuts down, people can still import from China at a cheaper rate.
3. Regarding point number 3, I agree with the author but as of DGM case, people should know the insight! then only will come to know the reality.
Rest all the points i agree with the author but in point number 9, regarding telecom license to Tashi group, what I think is because Tashi quoted high, it may not be DPT’s fault.
PM JYT will be re-elected from Pema Gatshel. My family will vote for DPT. Sorry to say this but i am happy with DPT. In few months time, anti DPT guys and media people will be crying and go mad because DPT will once again come to power. Pity people who are never satisfied in life.
I will vote for DPT firstly for its concerted effort in lobbying for the non-permanent seat in the UNSC no matter what the outcome was. As a small state Bhutan should move forward and participate actively in the international affairs. It is not just question of simply a UN member but contributing no matter whether being a small or big nation and Bhutan should be known beyond the corridors as an independent and sovereign nation. Secondly for establishing whatever form of relationship with China. As an independent nation there is no harm in doing that and we need not have to ask India for everything we do. My family of ten will vote for DPT.
I sometimes feel that this blog and people like Sangay Tshomo are planted by the DPT so that they can garner more support with these wild allegations and stories. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at ‘The Bhutanese’ run by Tenzing Lamsang who seems to have run out of steam, certainly not for the lack of trying, but simply because people were so fed up with their bullshit. Now hardly anyone comments on any of their stories. Another example is the OLs blog, he has stopped it completely, because, far from gaining more support for his own party, the PDP, it was having the opposite effect and people were rushing into support the DPT.
Anyway, after the next elections, the first person to be disappointed will be the author of this ridiculous piece of thrash, however, on the brighter side, she will have five more years of whining to do.
I agree with most of the contents and arguments of the 16 points; though several inaccuracies for example TR in place of YD for post of FS is becauseTR has issues with his tenure as Ambassador to Belgium which in other country would have landed him a termination. The warming up to China seems departure from previous foreign policy, infact it is how the media has reported it especially the Chinese media, and how our govt has not adequately responded which should have been unequivocal statement of priority of excellent relations with India. About corruption and nepotism, it is pervasive and not honestly addressed by all levels if Bhutan continues to make its world claim to wellbeing and happiness and succeed as a democracy. The 16 points need to be expanded; for point 14 about the grim state of civil service which DPT should have fundamentally reformed from the head, firing hundred of incompetent staff and all those drivers which run 3 jobs at the same time, to establishing the conditions for civil servants to be proud, committed and capable to serving the people of Bhutan and their country. ADD: Very little has been done to the burgeoning problems of degrading environment which is a real health hazard in our primary health institution of Thimphu Hospital; what all students and faculty in our education system do for conservation and nature? do we think a one time a year cleaning campaign is good enough? just see the junk on the trail to our most coveted trademark of Taksang. WHAT has been done for young people, with Thimphu holding highest density of addictions among capital cities. THE LIST is endless. The point is in a small country as Bhutan, all changes and improvements for the good of the public and the country ARE POSSIBLE, including how to keep and increase our beautiful priceless nature. This DOES NOT NEED the research of so many foreigners that populate all institutions from internships to highly paid jobs even in our GNH think tank, because higher wisdom and knowledge is already with us, but requires SELFLESS STATESMANSHIP. It will be a real big job for all new parties to compete with DPT, so as ultimate option I propose a national referendum for return to absolute monarchy.
“It will be a real big job for all new parties to compete with DPT, so as ultimate option I propose a national referendum for return to absolute monarchy”
Are you kidding? Are you emotional or serious?
haha! as @SIREN said, the OL’s blog as stopped.. I don’t know why? Ache Lhamo made a full stop to OL’s blog. May be now, OL is busy campaigning?
I may not like DPT but I will vote for it. This is for peace, stability and foundation of democracy for next years even through trial and error methods. Who am i to question integrity of PM and K4 and K5 doesn’t.
Next time, may be Nyamrup but not for Purely Demonizing Party (PDP) or People’s Disharmony Party..
dear defox,
There are people ho love and support dpt but do not forget there are also people who love and support PDP. This is s system we must live with but pl refrain from using foul word or language to express your views….some say says dpt is a disaster prone tshogpa…how do you feel???.thanks
wonder full article and great comments…..seriously PM is a great person and i dun know so wel about the party…. party may change, but i guess, the present PM is very dynamic and every one could take some time to be like him, even in doing bad thing in a good way….
The problem with JYT is he does even the bad thing in an exceptionally brilliant way And on top of it he makes public feel that he did the most righteous thing in this whole world. We can hardly find a guy like him in 100s of yrs to come.
We are different individual with different expectations and aspirations. So we have our own choices. For me , my vote is for DPT. No matter what people say or what media write about PM JYT and DPT, I will make my own judgement and shall never be influenced by what others have to say. I shall also support any other party be it PDP, DNT, BKP or DCT which ever comes to power in 2013. The truth is every party is working for our country. But sadly there are sick people who are biased.
Of course, its nearing election time and the purpose of Bhutanomics.com as the “common man” from Bhutan times era of 2007/08 is now becoming clearer. Doesn’t appear to be a satirical website making socail commentary about everyone as our “media” makes it out to be.
OK, on to my actual comment on this story.
How much of this story is fact?
how much is this fiction?
and how much is actually just propaganda?
I can find some nuggets which are either fiction or stretching the truth.
#7: “Yeshay Dorji bypassing a much senior Tobden Rabgey”.
What makes Mr. Tobden more worthy? Shouldn’t Mr. Tobden should be lucky he still has a job after his “episode” while ambassador in Belgium.
#9: “tax and power tariff subsidies to DPT supporters and relatives”
- Isn’t tax subsidies applicable to any business eligible under the law and tax codes regardless of if they support the govt or not?
- power tarriff!!! Doesnt BPC set this and its the same for all users under different categories like rural, urban, industry?
- How does DPT give favourable tax and power subsidies to their supporters?
#13: Rupee crisis has more to do with “everyone” sleeping and going overboard including the govt and central bank and commercial banks, businesses and the consumers.
is there more fiction mixed in there?
I like that man
I support MINAP!
Yes, rupee crisis was mainly due to low interest vehicles, construction, consumer loans made available from the banks and financial institutions and government simply refused to intervene when the crisis was in its initial state. This goes to show that there is lack of fiscal discipline in the system either due to apathetic attitude or lack of skills and knowledge with people who are suppose to develop sound and sustainable fiscal and monetary policies.
Cheers
So, we can look forward to DPT going out of the race in the primary round of elections???
I hope those who hate JYT and DPT are not going to get heart attacks by the time 2013 election is over. I am from Nanoong Shumar constituency and almost all my people are internally prepared to vote for JYT.
Legso to Bhutanomics for encouraging people like me to vote for JYT because now I am afraid if you are one of the other parties trying to defame DPT by giving false intuitions.
When we have Daw Tenzie who knows nothing about Economics and fiscal policies, it is no surprise we end up in fiscal mess. Similarly, we have Sonam Tshering, Secretary Economic Affairs who is actually a Mechanical Engineer, is he knowledgable enough to lead Economic Affairs Ministry. Dr. Sonam Tenzie, Secretary Home Ministry, what is he doing there while the country is crying for shortage of medical Doctors. It blows my mind what fools recommend these names for placement. They must be sick in head.
Dr. Sonam Tenzin, Secretary Home Ministry, is not a medical doctor by profession my friend,, pls check your facts first….
kotsa, before advising others take some moment and reconfirm yourself.
kotsa dr s t is medical doc by profession. make sure that you know before you make a comment…..
These are 16 reasons that i will vote for DPT again……let democracy take deep roots under the dynamic leadership of our current PM for next five years as we don’t find any other people capable enough to lead our country forward. If we fail to vote for DPT for the next five years, I am really sure democracy will surely fail in Bhutan.
DWA, all of us agree that PM is capable. However, to say that we have no other capable in Bhutan like him is under estimating our own potential as well as self belief. To me DPT is not indispensable. They are also human like us.We have seen the quality of our Ministers for last five years. Given the opportunity like they had under the guidance of our wise king, I have no doubt many Bhutanese can run this country even better….look around and we see all sorts of bad plannings….Thimphu is our capital city but they have never brought in good ideas from abroad like good planning and infrastructures in spite of their many years of foreign posting……Forget about disable friendly, they are not even health friendly. so never say we will have no one like him or her….mind you that in each one of us there is Buddha! we only have to realize it!!! Today many are highly educated. have self belief and you will see wonders….
The alternative to the DPT is scary. Not that I like DPT. It just may be lesser of the evil compared to the DNT, headed now by an ACC indicted Jigme Zangpo. One founding member Lekey Dorji of Zhemgang is an anti-monarchist who is against our beloved monarchy. His “new ideas” is basically to get rid of the old, including the monarchy. Having heard him talk at gatherings and read some of his writings I think he came from a deprived background and regards himself as a victim of those in power. So he has an inbuilt hate of the Bhutanese monarchy and all that is “old”. Of course he is cautious and knows how to package and sell the party slogan of “New” this and new that. So people have to study the background of our parties and carefully select the one which will foster democracy. I’m afraid DNT will unleash a reign of terror much like the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.
45 DPT MPs-5 Ministers-10 MPs=30 DPT MPs will rule another five years.
People who want to be leaders are mostly greedy, egoistic, power hungry, corrupt…
Good people mostly don’t want to join politics.
And the few good people that join politics become corrupt after joining it.
Whoever wins 2013 we’ll have the same kind of people ruling us. Its a waste of time debating who’s good, who’ll win, who’ll lose.
No HOPE
I would add some more reasons why I will not vote this party again:
17. Bounding Inflation and food prices: I know inflation cannot be checked as prices keep rising all the time. But within the past year alone food prices have doubled. Costs of fuel and other essentials though they are being subsidized are still too high, and house rent. The government has not done anything about it. The state of transport systems and roads conditions all around the country are atrocious and are perpetually in need of repair.
18. Parliamentarians and the gravy train: Who can forget that one of the first things discussed for a long time when this party came to office was the entitlements of the Ministers and the parliamentarians. They discussed their salary and entitlements. Housing, landcruisers for themselves, cars for wives, drivers and drivers’ salaries, logos on cars and a second logo, allowances I don’t know what else. While we want our leaders to be well fed, live comfortably, and drive great automobiles, I found this set a greedy lot.
19. Poor conduct and will not accept criticism: Our domestic airports could not operate due to poor quality of the runways. Likewise, other projects taken up during this government vis-a-vis IT Park and the Education City are found to be ill planned so much so that they have now become white elephants.
20. Campaign promise was just hot air: They have not lived up to their election campaign of “Equity and Justice”. On the contrary there is neither.
The much hyped IT park is in very bad shape. We could see how poorly it is done. Even before it is getting rented out fully, many parts are dipping/sinking and falling apart. BBS could capture those in camera and show it to public for information.
whatever u say, i have already weighed the positive and negative points and, it makes sense to at lease vote DPT for this election. Despite so many negative campaigns by this website and tenzing lamzang, i am sure DPT will win coz our people are much more matured than these negative campaigners. And, if DPT wins in 2013 then this website should be closed on moral ground as this website is purely design for anti dpt eyeing for 2013. Till then enjoy throwing ur bullshits!!!
Sorry friends, if my words ever happen to hurt any of the fellow above. while I just wonder if the writer of this article is really a pemagatshelpa khotsa. Ofcourse its true that there lies a lot of loopholes and drawbacks in DPT but lets not forget and fail to determine the competency of other parties too, before we really commit another unforgivable blunder. while if i comment on JYT, he is simply……. ‘The great’ though i dont fully agree with DPT’s governance. Hope the people of nanong-shumar constituency and a young citizen like me (who looks forward to make a difference in our own way) still have faith in JYT ofcoz not fully to all of his party member. so i wont misuse my fundamental right by choosing the wrong leader for the nation of OURS…..My vote for 2013 is reserved for JYT AGAIN…..NOT because i want the DPT to rule again but to see the so called Bhutan as a brighter nation in future
PM even took his driver to USA as a kidu while on official visit. Our country is really a GNH country where PM is very kindhearted. What about cook, maid? I heard same too.
Poor JYT has just started growing rich. Let him at least fulfill his mission of making his poorest kin(s) at least millionaire. Forget about where the nation heads. After he fulfills his mission, then he will start talking about patriotism.Till then people can take GNH cake (abroad baked).
when a minister resign from the post they take away prados with them….but we know we are still a poor country. Should not Ministers winning two three times refuse the prados???
Those of you Bhutanese who mindlessly write rubbish on this anti-national site, you need ask only one question:
Of the supposed leaders who head the four other political parties who are yet to field the required number of candidates to contest in the upcoming elections, which among them would you say has the required experience and wisdom to govern Bhutan?
Search deep into your hearts and ask yourselves the question: does any one, repeat, any one among them have the necessary leadership qualities, experience in governance, acceptance at the national level, recognition at the international level?
Do you truly believe that these aspiring leaders are people you would be proud to call your leaders? What are their individual achievements? What are their track records? As a citizen, how comfortable will you feel with any one of them at the helm of things? Is any one of them up to the job to discuss and interact with world leaders with decades of experience in politics and governance?
As of now, there is no alternative to DPT. So if you know what is good for you, if you mean well for the country, you should channel your energies towards keeping them on track rather than being starry-eyed about some flash-in-the-pan pretenders.
I humbly disagree. Give Bhutanese people a chance to do something and they will do it with whatever means available at hand.
Also I don’t believe in people-worshiping much. Remembering the famous quote “Ability is of little account without opportunity”, I think it is the leadership opportunity that is lacking for many capable people in the country. We have produced many highly qualified people with advanced degrees earned from reputed universities across the world. Most of these qualified people have several years of grass-root touch by serving in the remote places. Motivate or give them a chance to come to the forefront and run this country. With new paradigm and perspectives, they might govern at par or even much better than current ruling party. Sometimes wishing a same pool of people to rule the country reflects our inability to accept changes in the system while paradoxically all online forums discussions are flooded with yearnings for a better change in our society.
While I concur with many that JYT has several extraordinary skills, he is definitely not a superhuman and so infallible. He is capable of making mistakes and so far I have not seen him admitting to any of the mistakes that were glaringly brought to bare by various media. Accepting and owning up one’s mistakes is an important leadership trait. As erudite as he is, I have yet to see him less conceited and more willing to listen to others. In as much as he is a great speaker, I would also like to see some of his words translated into actions on the ground.
As regards voting for a party, I am right now undecided, because I am yet to see some more capable people appearing in the limelight. Once they show their faces in the public, I will see who deserves 13 votes from my family.
Yes I support Chola,
Everyone has capability to do anything, its just people don’t get a right platform to do so. Give chance, and let upcoming generation prove. Its true JYT has bounty of experience, but remember mate; “Old dogs never learn New tricks”.
PUBLIC NOTICE
There are two JAMYANGs here!
@jamyang,
My name starts with capital letter “J” whereas yours begin with a smaller letter “j”. Even if we share the same name, our ideologies differ.
I don’t agree with the author’s first five or six points. It’s bullshit.
I’m DPTian by heart but of late I started hating DPT and m a undecided voter now for the following reasons 1. Inability to table Right to information Act in the parliament 2. Inability to implement the Labour & Employment Act fully such as Workers Association and Grievance procedures and internal service rules and others or inability to create awareness to the company registered under company act of 2000 such as in the financial institutions.
It indicates that the author is someone related to parties other than DPD. Carefully analysing, DPD has done great job within a short period of time. Indeed, more people will vote for DPD than in 2008 and all the seats in the parliament will go to DPD again. I am not Pro-DPD but the fact is, DPD has a great leadership which no other parties have. I don’t see leadership and diplomacy in any of the parties registered so far.
Hi Sams, You mean DPT? Which party is DPD?
It will be tiring, boring and the height of pure desperation to have the same old foggies ruling us,yet again. It’s time, we bring some changes and put some dynamism into our system. If elected some of the Ministers would have served for over two decades as Ministers. It’s also time to reflect on what they have actually achieved e.g. Lyonpo Khandu and Lyonpo Zimba have had many opporunities to serve in the Ministry of Trade and Industries from Secretary to Minister and today what is the state of the private sector. Oh! yes Lyonpo khandu has achieved one good thing and i.e giving hundreds of Bar Licenses which contributes to the death of hundreds in road accidents, domestic problems and alcohol related liver cancers. The Hon.Prime Minister has served in the Foreign Service as Ambassador to being a Foreign Minister and today the MOFA is one of most badly run Ministries. Some of our so called diplomats are great shoppers and PR’s and do barely any real professional work. What waste of our meagre resources.
Bhutanese people must shove their mindsets aside and think of change and hopefully the younger lot will bring in a whiff of fresh air and fuel the evolution brought forth by our wise leader the K4,
Pain nicely said. I cannot agree less. Yes we need change. There are Bhutanese who are so chicken hearted that they have no self belief and always think JYT and team should rule us. Thank you guys. We must wean from such thoughts and habits. It is different time and we must ensure that we govern ourselves to serve better. That is also the aim of democracy. To give power to the people. Today we have no dearth of capable people but many lack self belief due to poor grooming or old way of conditioning as is apparent in this forum who thinks JYT indispensable for Bhutan. I pity for those guys. Come on guys let us think big, wonderful things for Bhutan. We can do it……no worry…..we cannot expect our father to give us meat all the time….and milk from mother all the time!
I hope it is change for the better. Two to three dpt ministers are good. They are young and dynamic and should lead emerging parties.
Cheers
The anti DPT members will soon die .. some will die due to pressure , some will die due to your bad comments on the Govt , some will die due to car accident and sure Bhutan nomics people will be in HELL soon ….
@ Kelzang
Are you a man on Buddhist Mask? Man with Buddha’s principles never ever Curse any mankind. You look diehard supporter of DPT. You have the right. But, my worry is if about few more men like you became ministers of this nation, the whole nation shall witness very hellish situation.
So Vote someone other than DPT to save nation from unseen misfortunes.
To add on what Kelzang said, they will die of heart attack after seeing the result in this year election. And Reedem ofcourse you have to vote for party other than DPT because already DPT has so many supporters (45 out of 47). Try to bring it down to around 35 or 30 lets say.
Kezang and Rangdrel I pity you guys. We still have people who are encrusted with such wicked mind…..pl do correct yourself and pray to have a good life…when some one express their views necessarily mean bad people but show your character by using such foul word or language with equally bad intentions…so sad….
people who never learn to appreciate and support will never be satisfied whoever come to power in 2013 election. There will be many more Bhutanomics.
I will vote for DPT again because Tshering Tobgay of PDP talks more and works less, Jigme Zangpo of DNT is simply innocent about governing experience, Lily Wangchhuk of DCT does not sound like a Bhutanese citizen by the name itself and Sonam Tobgay of BKP has no leadership quality whatsoever. So, I cannot imagine any of the four party leaders becoming PM of our glorious kingdom.
JYT the magician…..!!! misuses the power, is darn fucking corrupt and still manages to fool the people like yall…wake up guys…we already ;lost millions of money making their friends and families rich, its time to stop. lets not make our country turn into nepal or since GNH is already JYT’s philosophy now, at least save it from turning into
“Kingdom of JYT”…
We cannot afford another Wangdue dzong, another five year of economic mismanagement by this so called equity and justice govt. We need change.
Dear Critics and colleagues,
The moment we the people of Bhutan had been bestowed upon with the will of Freedom, the solace of choice, the rights to be measured, weighted and conquered. The rights to call ourselves free and blessed men.
We have a great measure in our hands to live the life of a free man, we did lined up and cast upon our choice, with utmost faith and indelible trust and a party emerged victorious; say it fair but a bit rounded not the usual ‘fair and square’
The first election has had been won not by the people who fully understand the mechanism of the government or the true essence of ‘the value of vote’, nor by the chisled, hardened and seasoned statesman, it had been won by the people who neither possess the urge of a true statesman, nor the unmeasured dedication and strength. It had been won by the people who never had a salary paid out the government, people who could speak but can’t smell the rotten brain in their head. People whom we may label as ‘Glory hunters’ The election had been won not by the will of the people but by the influence of the indoctrination of civil servants and their notion on People’s Democratic Party and the relapse of inadequate education syndrome of the masses.
The very fabric of life entrenched with the emotions of Jigme Thinley rising against the very larger than life image of Sangay Ngedup, has had been the prime factor as well as the perceived modesty of Jigme Thinley played it part to the pitch. If we are adequately read now we can see the fine print on whose side are the foes on and which side are we the voter, people and democracy are on. I am still a little bit confused who is who.
Should not we be asking ourselves, what good did we bring on and what good do be have to show of? Many a question embroils. The question arises here when we are on the cusp of a election the possibility of inducting a new government, or dwell under the spell present tyranny. (not being cynical)
Should (not) we as the ‘people’ exercise our will and aspiration towards building a great nation?
Should we cut the leash of stranglehold of being ‘owned’ and being a mere ‘citizen’?
The point here is it is as good as counting the sands on a beach and would not even make a slight difference even if we rise, for we as a Nation is not a nation driven by zest and perseverance. But, we are a nation who lives on the basis of ‘Assumption’, hierarchy and in breed loyal canine. Having said that, I urge my fellow citizen to vote and fully embrace the opportunity to use your power genuinely and at least be honest to ourselves.
If we are to stride forward here is what they say ‘think globally, act locally’.
Hence, a man with a Harvard degree is no better than a man who is a grade ten graduate if we fall to the prey of propaganda.
Choice is yours…

I like this statement.
An in-depth analysis of the article “16 reasons why we should not vote for DPT”
At the outset, please be informed that I am not a DPT member or its patron. As a non-partisan, responsible citizen of a cherished nation, it is my solemn duty to provide as much factual information as possible to the audience in the cyber space that is visited by many people, both insiders and outsiders. Vast information on Bhutan and its government are being published on a daily basis in print and online media by various people with various mindsets and agendas. Some of the posts have the grave danger of misinforming the public with callous write-ups. Many people have the tendency to impulsively believe in the writings, because few have the time to take a breath and scrutinize the statements proposed. It is against this information trend I felt obliged to provide an in-depth analysis of this article.
1. Sanctity of the king
In a bicameral parliament, we have the National Council which also shares the responsibility of reviewing legislations that pose grave threat to the security of the nation and sacred institution of monarchy. If revision of the Land Act was deemed as taking away the rights of the King, the Upper House would have promptly blocked the passage of the bill. I don’t see any uproar stemming from the revised Land Act, which means sanctity of the king is protected. Besides, the King has commanded the formation of the National Land Commission and nation-wide recadastral survey of lands.
With regard to the idea of GNH, it is appropriate that the Prime Minister promulgates the idea propounded by our King. That way, respect for the King’s humility and visionary leadership will be heightened.
2. Indo-Bhutan relation
I feel as a grateful human being, I should not be held culpable if I say I owe to two governments – Bhutan Government and Indian Government. India has done a lot to Bhutan than any other nation, much to the point that we have no proper words in the dictionaries to describe our gratitude. Ideally, we would love to remain the steadfast younger brother of India if we don’t have to do anything with China. But the sad reality is that we share a long border, 470 km, with our northern big guy, and we have yet to settle many issued related to the northern border. Several rounds of talks have been held and there seems to be no promise of a mutually agreed border. Given this, both Bhutanese and Indians should recognize that it is in the interest of both the countries that we need a meaningful dialogue with the Chinese counterparts. I don’t think Bhutan has conceded anything to China significantly that should hurt the interest of our Indian brothers.
3. Corruption
Whether DPT or PDP is in rule corruption will still take place, as humans by nature are corrupt. If our mind is not corrupt, we should be wandering in the place of perpetual bliss or enlightenment. Knowing what we are, DPT or any ruling government cannot play magic or display supernatural power to stem all corruptions. Therefore, blaming DPT for corrupt activities that were blossoming before its appearance in the public domain is preposterous. Recognizing that we all are corrupt in some ways and to certain extent, I don’t agree with ACC Chairperson aiming for “zero corruption”. She must be hallucinating. However, blatant misuse of power, authority, and resources that are proven beyond reasonable doubts should be brought to task and corrective measures taken upon the defaulters. Then, is it wrong for DPT or ACC to taken actions on the wrongdoers? DPT or any ruling government doesn’t own the government. They simply handle it. Besides, there are many constitutional bodies that do their works dictated by their mandates. There is no merit in blaming DPT when those constitutional offices are discharging their regular duties.
I admit that I don’t know anything about PM’s Aunt receiving compensation for her land and about Bhutan Lottery, so I will pass them. They may merit significant bearing, but I honestly could not find anything on these subject matters, except that Bhutan Lottery was there even before the DPT government. With regard to Chang Ugyen’s case, I agree with the author that he was not questioned by the competent authorities even if Kuensel wrote stories about his scandal. However, he is yet to be proven guilty by any competent authority. Similarly, the Royal Court of Justice of Mongar is yet to pass the verdict on the case of Gyelposhing Land. Hence, it would be nonsensical to incriminate the accused who had nothing to do with DPT during their tenure as Dzongda before joining DPT and when their working atmosphere was in a completely different set up.
4. Tobacco Act
I would have been soft on the first defaulter if he or she didn’t turn out to be a Buddhist monk. Influenced by Buddhist Philosophy, the whole intention of the Tobacco Act was to show deep-seated reverence to our protective saints and deities who are strongly believed to be shielding our nation against misery. Also since the monk was prosecuted and indicted by the Royal Court of Justice, not by the Government, here again I don’t see any reason to insinuate against DPT. What would the Judges have said if the Prime Minister ordered not to pursue criminal charges against the monk? Besides, even His Holiness the Jekhenpo didn’t grant clemency to that monk who is supposed to show a role model.
5. Pedestrian Day
With regard to the once-dreaded pedestrian day, I am in full agreement with the author that DPT unilaterally imposed the draconian rule without properly consulting with the public. However, they have learned the impracticality of such poorly consulted rule. At any rate, we should at least have the courtesy to appreciate the bold initiative of the government in their interest to save the environment and improve the life of the citizens. I would certainly have joined hands in blaming the DPT if they didn’t arrive to such a compromise. Now that we have a mutually accepted once-in-a-month pedestrian day, we as rational human beings should have the decency to appreciate DPT’s heeding to the plea of the business community and general public.
6. Trowa cinema land case
With regard to this case, it is an unfortunate coincidence that the owner is related to the Prime Minister by way of marriage. However, I would request the author to provide concrete evidence as to how PM is implicated in this case. Otherwise, I will not buy this story. Besides, we should also know that the owner is related to our King by way of marriage. Should be implicate our beloved King too?
7. Ad-hoc and indiscriminate appointment of favourable people into important positions without proper procedures
With regard to this, Minap, a commentator in this forum seems to know a lot about the people in MoFA. May be he can chip in and shed some more light on why Yeshi Dorji should not be bypassing Tobden Rabgey. I don’t know Lyonpo Pema Gyamtsho as a Tibetan. He hails from Tang valley of Bumthang, and he holds a legitimate Bhutanese ID to contest as a political candidate.
8. Targeting media houses which attempt investigative journalism
While I sympathize with the news media “The Bhutanese”, there have been several remarks in this website about some of the anti-Bhutanese sentiments jutting out from the paper. If that is proven true, I am with the DPT government to shun that destructive media. There is so much power in the media to influence people’s mind, but there has to be some restraints on whether the information will have any backlashes against the Bhutanese society as a whole. However, having stated this, I agree with the author that sometimes the Prime Minister has an overbearing self-righteous attitude which is depicted in many forum discussions. Sorry PM, I have to state what is true as true. If that trait of the PM is significantly hurting the interest of the media, I am with the media.
9. Collusion with big business and influential people
There is so much fronting in Bhutan, not only Tashi and Singye groups, but also by many companies, big and small. Count also the individuals who are taking advantage of the rupee shortage situation and engaging in illegal transaction of rupee across the Bhutan-India border. I have yet to see how much the PM has been involved in favoritism towards the companies and individuals listed above, but being influenced by big companies is the fundamental flaw of democracy. Come to think of how much the law makers in the US are influenced by powerful and often predatory companies and their lobbyists. PDP was once supported by some of these very companies that the author has implicated. If elected, wouldn’t PDP be obliged to show some favor to them as well? Where is the fair game we are talking about? Let us witness in the upcoming election where the funding for the emergent political parties is coming from.
10. Public lands being taken over by relatives and influential people
Here again, I can’t help but refute the allegations presented by the author. Gungloen Lam Dorji’s land was granted as Kidu by the Fourth King for his meritorious service to the country. Here the author is conflicting with himself. In his first point, he uses sanctity of the king as a weapon against DPT, but here he is not even sparing the Royal Family in charging against DPT. Judgment is left up to the readers whether to buy the arguments or not. The statements are not only overly stated, they carry the message that in Bhutan the Government has so much of power to do anything it desires without any checks and balances. This is alarming.
11. Use of official tours to introduce PM’s son and son-in-law to prospective business partners
There is some merit in this argument, hearing from what many people have to say. The PM would have avoided criticisms if his son and son-in-law were excluded out of the official trip, and rather took them on an unofficial leisure trip. People are inclined to believe that PM has willfully favored his kiths and kins when some lucrative businesses in the country are operated by his immediate relatives.
12. Fundamental change in Bhutan’s foreign policy without consulting the Parliament
I have no idea what the author is trying to say. Can he propound this statement by providing some evidences and example of such foreign policies?
13. Rupee crisis
This was a crisis that was building up even during the previous governments when the country was not democratically governed. It is again an unfortunate coincidence that the crises reached its height during the incumbent government. So, DPT alone doesn’t deserve to be blamed and questioned. One thing we should realize is that the Rupee Crisis was created by our own people. We chose to eat those unsafe but cheap vegetables from India while leaving most our lands fallow and not fully utilized at home. We chose to spend more than two third or entire annual saving on pilgrimage and blessings outside Bhutan almost every alternate year when we have many great lamas and religious sites in our own country. Every year, millions of rupees are taken away by Bhutanese pilgrims to India. We could have reversed the outflow of rupee by inviting some of those great lamas in our country and make them provide blessings, so that we can attract pilgrims from other places who will bring foreign currencies to our country. For instance, the past year’s Gelephu and Punakha Wang retained hundreds of thousands of devotees inside the country, preventing huge exodus of rupee. So, DPT as a government cannot be solely blamed when we as individuals have a big hand in magnifying the crises.
14. Civil service neglected
I will agree to some extent with that MP’s statement that the bureaucracy is largely corrupt. But, all bureaucratic positions are not appointed by DPT. RCSC as an apolitical body has the sole mandate to look after the civil service, not the DPT. I need to see concrete evidences of how many proposals that seek to protect the interests and boost the morale of civil servants submitted by RCSC is rejected by the office of the PM or the Cabinet. Only then, I will agree that DPT has neglected the civil servants. A counterargument from DPT would be how many proposals from DPT to incentivize the civil servants have not been followed by RCSC.
15. First lady’s intrusion
In any country, the first lady is given some social responsibility to share the burden of her husband. All our Queen Mothers as first ladies of our Fourth King are exemplarily spearheading many noble initiatives and projects, such as Tarayana Foundation, YDF, RENEW, etc. Likewise, our Ashi Jetsun Pema is also given some kidu tasks by our Fifth King. In such cases, isn’t it morally appealing to us that our first lady, instead of enjoying the comforts and privileges of being the wife of a prime minister, goes out to the poorest district of the country to make differences in the lives of some battered and underprivileged women? Don’t we want the first lady of our next Prime Minister to be engaged in some socially uplifting activities?
16. The attitude
First and foremost, people of Bhutan made the grave mistake by voting for a party president, instead of voting for the constituent members. That is why, we have only few experienced key players in the party and there weren’t many people who could politely oppose to the views of the prime minister. We have also seen the tyranny of the majority, especially when a single person makes so much of decisions in the party. This is what I would call as “attitude” instead of listening to who says what and why.
Concluding remark
While I truly appreciate the works of the DPT government and the tremendous achievements that the party has made within the short span of time, I would also like to give opportunity to other parties if they have candidates that have proven track records of meaningful contributions and appealing credentials. If none, I would not mind taking less risk by voting for DPT if the capable members are retained and some more capable members are recruited. I also feel that some of the ministers in DPT have done so much and are by now exhausted. They should now take rest and spend their later part of life, either seeking deeper spiritual path or taking advisory positions. Let the fresh cohorts of politicians take the helm of the government, give them a chance to develop skills, and groom them as capable leaders. Otherwise, we will truly have leadership vacuum in our country.
With regard to the article, there are more points that I disagree than I agree. Some of the statements are farfetched with plain objective of demonizing DPT. Some points are factually wrong and personally opinionated while many others need more evidences to make the claims believable.
So, I as a reader of this article on this website, I would exercise caution in forming my opinion against DPT based on the points submitted.
@Chola
Hi there. So nice of you to trying hiding Sun with palm.
On reading your comment …each readers now felt that the main Stuff published by this site owner is cent percent true.
Also it is so crystal clear that…the main report has pained JYT to no repair. So soon “The sin cried from the roof” in the form of laments from JYT aka Chola.
The temporary remedy for now for Your Good End is _ don’t try taking peeper powder near the eyes _
For sure,so called 2013 election drama gonna crown Mini king JYT to rape this nation. DPT will gather all needed number of MPs by hook or crook. For everything DPT has completed internally. Mijur Dorji and the likes will be our ministers yet again.
To speak the very bitter truth and citizens be aware of is..JYT is defaming over beloved King. He is defaming our ultimate guardian The living God. At any cost this cannot be tolerated.
We want our King and nation’s prosperity not the JYTcracy and Mijur Dorji like traitors in nation’s esteemed positions. JYT is misusing/taking advantage of his son’s relation with our blessed Royal family. I m so sorry to speak this bitter truth, as a loyal citizen this is one of my duties to let everyone know.
Chola is finally no one other than JYT himself.
Sometimes, I feel that JYT haters who are pitting him against our King in order to plunge our country into chaos and disorder are no other than mischief mongers. I can see some sheep in wolves clothing in this site who cannot stand to see Bhutan prospering with the newly established democratic government that was gifted by the benevolent monarch and not out of any outside political pressure or internal strife. In this and other sites, hardly there was any suggestion on how we could improve the situation, correct the wrongs, and take the nation forward. All I can see is highly polarized view with a destructive intention to destabilize our country.
If you guys are genuinely interested in who leads the progressive country, at least play some clean politics by being fair enough. Why should you be so hateful of DPT that you try to pervade the minds of all people with negatives only? Aren’t there any good things done by the party? If you belong to another party and are trying to win over DPT this time, this is not the kind of politics you should play. Sooner or later, people will find out your ulterior motives and all you will have to do is pack up and never think of joining a party again.
Come on guys. We are a fledgling democracy with many things to learn. We are sometimes killing the newly born baby by not allowing it to grow and by expecting too much. Yes this time it is DPT. Next time if another party wins, we will again crush it with so much criticisms and negativity. Where is hope in such a vicious cycle?
Yes in deed, I too am not in favor of DPT so much because I don’t believe in having the same individuals, especially the prime minister and his cohort of old ministers, running this country again and again with the same perspective for the last 15 years. I am dying for new perspectives, because I believe that paradigm shift will come from a new system. I really want another party to win this time for a change. But, I would like see the party winning through a clean chit. If I see the prospective ruling party engaging in cheap politics in their campaign, I will certainly turn my back on it. That will only give me a strong reason to vote for DPT.
Chola is the only writer who is giving balanced view and i appreciate you. @ Reedem, You say JYT is defaming our king? Please elaborate how he is doing this. As far as i know, JYT is our kings’s right hand and most trusted man in this whole world. What you say is out of pure hatred for Hon’ble PM JYT. It may not be appropriate for common people like us to judge the family relationship of our kings and PM. Even if JYT does not win the coming election, he is going to hold most important position somewhere and continue to benefit Bhutan. You are yet to swallow bitter truth: JYT will rule again!
The problem with “educated” Bhutanese is that they don’t read and scrutinize the statements. They like too much of gossiping instead of conducting further research on who said what. Most of them form their opinion and act purely based on what they hear. They easily lend themselves to knee-jerk reactions, because of which all the garbage dumped into such websites have the potential to poison their minds. I think that is the reason why we have many people in this site with deep-seated hatred to the Prime Minister and the ruling elites with no proper background checks and investigations. This is the very reason why we gave all bullshits to the poorly informed farmers during the last election and made them elect all those fresh graduates who didn’t have a clue about governance, Bhutan Civic, and legislation.
Let me suggest the Bhutanese of all ages to read this famous quote by Benjamin Franklin “Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear”. Write it on a big chart paper and paste it in your living room to read every morning and evening. Here is another one to be written: “A Lie can travel half way around the world while the Truth is still putting on its shoes” (Mark Twain).
Otherwise, we will forget the part and be condemned to repeat the history (George Santayana).
Sorry, it should be read as “past” not “part” in the last paragraph.
“Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear”.
So, don’t believe JYT’s speeches/lectures. Full of lies, pulling the wool over our eyes. Even if you speak the truth, I won’t believe you now. You seem like a capable man, but doing all the wrong things. When elections come near, you goes to Laya and every other corner of the country. The rest of the time, you’re in New York, Brazil, Japan in the name of GNH. I say bring GNH home, to Bhutan, not take it away or keep it in your family.
Come 2013, please go away.
I don’t take shits easily as much as you would like me to. I am just trying to be a fair man in giving due credits to people who deserve. Please don’t take me as a JYT clone. I believe in many of his sound reasoning and rational thoughts but he is only a human being. He is not supernatural and perfect. He deserves lot of respects for whatever he has proven to the people of Bhutan, but all I am trying to imply is that we need a change in leadership for the sake of changing paradigm. Lets say, new wine in new bottle. So, I am in your rudderless boat brother, yet to see some alternatives to JYT who can confidently take the country forward. Can you suggest some alternatives?
There are enough good honest people to replace JYT. Bhutan will do better than this arrogant, lying, hypocritical JYT at the helm.
With him, Bhutan is not a democracy, its a double absolute monarchy, with him being a second king, a very bad one at that, more of a dictator.
Ap Naka has actually shown his true colors, he is actually anti monarchy, his post above proves that.
you are right siren
Siren, shame on you for using the monarchy as your defense. I do have respect for my kings, but unlike you I choose to keep it to myself. This country has a lot of shameless people who start their sentences praising the kings, but deep within they carry deep resentment towards the monarchy. Very pathetic.
Democracy was handed down to use by our king, it was his desire. Doing so, he would have expected a real democracy, not one ruled by one JYT, who acts like a dictator. Now, tell me if JYT doesn’t rule like a Dictator? He doesn’t listen to anyone, no one questions him for the fears of repercussion, not even his party members. And those fears are real. I can show you examples of what happens to people who question him, who stand up against him even in the mildest of ways. So far till now, he has had his way with everything. So yes, this is our leader: Doesn’t LISTEN to others, has no humility, lies through this teeth, has no ethics, and is indirectly or directly corrupt. True he has great oratory skills, but how has that benefited the people/country? The only thing he achieved with that skill is he got the people fooled and won votes.
@ Naka the earthquake. In fairness to JYT, I would say that he speaks with lots of substance, so meticulously worded and coherently stated, which I would take years to master such skills. Not all the word coming out of his mouth are junks. Let us at least appreciate this great oratory skill in this fine statesman that we are collectively proud of as Bhutanese. Nevertheless, he is a politician; he would definitely butter up some issues and say things that are not necessarily agreed by others. Remember, we are living in a cruel world. We can’t make everybody happy. Even Buddha could not make all his disciples happy.
However, we need an alternative to JYT dogma. If none, he may be the only choice we have as of now. Why would I risk my neck in making an asshole a prime minister of Bhutan?
@ Chola.
So nice to see you with bit of changed mind. Thank you for going through my very basic version. Yet, one can smell rat in between the lines.. Your analysis has failed in interpreting the net-work of corruption. You have misinterpreted and has given very wrong message to the public stating that whosoever rules the nation DPT or PDP one cannot check corruption. I have two points to ask you:
1.If so called elected govt. cannot stop corruption, why should the nation getting ready to finish millions of Nu. in the name of election? Why the JYT lead govt. deceiving general public by saying ‘ adoption of zero tolerance in corruption’ and he himself leads the net-work of corruption?
2. Forget about other factors: we are Buddhist country. Buddhist principle is our guiding rules.
We preach and teach – No to cheating. No to deceiving. No to harm others. Are our so called rulers know this in pinch?. One cannot escape by saying corruption isn’t the problem started with DPT govt. The present rulers are just the Old wine in new Bottle. They were the rulers and they are the doers. Otherwise, do they mean Corruption began from when King was the head of the govt? Isn’t it indirect blame on our King?
So in nutshell- DPT is not the problem for the nation. JYT is. That is why every Dik and Tom points fingers at him. He knows very well the level of mercury. He simply is following the path of
Hosni Mubarak..
More on your other analysis i shall keep on updating. Let people truly know the bitter truth. So little by little update I feel is good for them. See you then.
@ DORJI
First of all let me assure my loyalty towards HIs Majesty. I cannot imagine even a single moment without my King. As.far as you have asked me to elaborate how JYT defaming our kind King-
You have very clearly written “JYT is the right hand of our king and he is the most trusted man in the whole world of our King” Thus, it is so clear that JYT is taking advantage of HM’s trust.
He knows King shall never question his wrong doings. Such traitors in truth rape the nation.
If you feel you need more elaboration than this do let me know.
Dear Reedem,
Let me “redeem” your thoughts on the aspect of corruption and guiding influence of Buddhism.
Are you saying that corruption was unheard of during the rule of the King? If I remember my childhood, I have heard stories about many dzongdags getting locked up at Dobjidzong which then was jokingly called the only dzong with the largest number of dzongdags. There was also a story about several RBA brigadiers kicked out for being caught in huge embezzlement cases. I also learned that the massive replacement of cabinet ministers in the 1990s was a consequence of corruption. These episodes are natural because the King alone cannot guarantee us a corruption-free society. Also, don’t make us think that people under the reign of the King were incorruptible and they became suddenly corrupt under the democratically elected prime minister.
Sometimes, I get the notion that you are totally confused with several branches of the government that you need to take lessons on Bhutan Civic and Constitution. The elected government, being the executive branch of the government, is only mandated to plan and execute the plan and eliminating corruption is not its sole duty. That is why we have the ACC instituted and vested with the Constitutional mandate to deal with all issues related to corruption.
Sometimes you make people think that the elected government can do everything it wishes completely unhindered. Under the visionary leadership of our wise kings, we have instituted necessary checks and balances in the Constitution to avoid such things to happen. That is why you may recall the classic incidence of the Opposition taking the executive government to court for breaching the Constitution when it raised vehicle import tax without the endorsement of the parliament. You may also recollect the National Council summoning some of the ministers and questioning some of their actions.
Coming to the Buddhist influence, I am beginning to seriously rethink about it. I am inclined to posit that in Bhutan Buddhism is confined to only the monks and religious figures. Actions of most civil servants, corporate, and private individuals are very un-Buddhist. Such websites and other web forums are replete with overwhelming examples of un-Buddhist nature of Bhutanese, even worse than the worst faith you can imagine. So many people were carelessly defamed and demonized without concrete evidences and reasons. Commentators didn’t care that those characters slandered are also humans with emotions and dignity, not some thoughtless inanimate objects. Some people in this website had the audacity to hastily locked up Lyonpo Minjur and Tshogpoen behind the bars even when the court verdict is yet to be passed and allegations proven beyond doubts. So, I am not sure if I will believe in your statement that we are guided by Buddhist Philosophy.
If you ever thought JYT is the most problematic in our country, why did the educated lot (you made be included) and the elites brainwash all those village folks to provide a landslide victory to his party in 2008 even when they saw that there were more deserving candidates in PDP? If every Bhutanese believed that JYT was unfit to govern Bhutan as you have stated, why didn’t they propose a national referendum to impeach him?
I am afraid Bhutan will be closer to becoming a failed state if many Bhutanese join your bandwagon of carelessly hating the ruling class without any solid reasons while claiming to be guided by Buddhism.
I would be happy to take comments without malice buddy.
Chola,
you views are good enough but are you implying that we should not try to eliminate corruption or show good example? we have seen with our own eyes how some of our senior people including the current Ministers use huge sum for their own benefit in the name of this and that in their constituency even though we have shortage of money every where? pl be real and just dont bla bla to show that you know so much. we will no more be swayed by sweet words or emotion of any body. yes bhutanese have learnt so much from 2008 election and saw how dpt ruled for last five long years…..have self belief and you will do wonders.
One of the committee members, parliamentarian Sonam Penjore, updating the members on the Trowa theatre land at Changjiji that government leased to a private businessman, said Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had reviewed the matter and saw no case of policy corruption to merit further investigation (Source Kuensel: http://www.kuenselonline.com/most-irregularities-resolved/#.USbkfVd0eEY).
JYT
Hey Drukpa, You have no manners and using such abusive language will not harm anybody but yourself. Don’t die of heart attack when DPT wins election again in 2013. The party has such a visionary leadership which is very rare in the world. I like him and am confident that he will be able to lead the country to even greater heights and prosperity.
Hi Reedem, You haven’t explained how JYT is defaming the Kings and taking advantage. What u wrote is just a statement. However I feel it is not necessary at all for us to debate here much as infact it is only few of us here who post comments again and again. Almost 99% of Bhutanese do not even know that this website exist and that few of us are discussing about JYT here. On the other hand 99% of 99% or atleast 90% of Bhutanese know who is JYT. Each one of us are different individuals with different level of expectations, desire and mindset. In this context, i totally agree that each Bhutanese will have different ideas, opinions and notions about JYT. But in democracy, majority wins and we have to wait until election time if majority are with JYT or other way round. It is also my personal opinion (you need not agree) that we as educated lots in this beautiful country should be acting responsibly. While there are some flaws and failures with JYT and DPT, it may be more damaging to our own country by just defaming the PM and the government. We can write hundreds of defamatory articles but will it really help Bhutan? I think there is better way of give suggestion and encourage to bring about positive changes.
@ DORJI
I agree on one point of yours that, for sure, we are few here sharing our opinions.Yet, I m not going to divulge the bitter truth as is in this type of sites. For me nation, king and national feeling is more important. But, it doesn’t mean JYT and his wrong doings be pardon. Again let me just repeat it here JYT is very well taking advantage of goodwill of our beloved King’s trust upon him. 4th King once very well had trusted Teknath Rizal. In return Rizal tried taking advantage of HM’s greatness. He then troubled Southern and latter East. But,here in JYT’s road is different though. He bothers very less in terms of citizens and makes speeches as if he is God in man’s form. Poor people are made believe. Road of his mission is hidden and is of grand-designed. I shall wait till that time when people start raising their ears to know the truth. I m not a man of blind belief. Nation is my soul and patriotism my way of living. I cannot tolerate JYT like psudo_patriot. Early detection of Cancer has treatment so people should feel that cancer is detected and not yet grown too worse. Stitch on time saves nine. I m so sorry for you all may see me being anti -JYT yet, I never mind. In the eyes of public temporarily he is exposing himself being smart but truth cannot be hidden. You all can see how his promises are met. He is so smart. He is doing all free for he knows no one can raise voice against his doings and he tries using his relationship with our king as ultimate point of pardon. For tries selling GNH cake abroad to make our king happy. One can very well compare his GNH cake sold overseas and existing here. Is really dangerous.
DPT may not be bad but JYT is. People may vote him and his party on hearing is coated lollipop, would be best for the nation New face come and rule and save national interest.
See you then.
@ Reedem, well this is all your personal views on JYT. Everyone has their own conscience and judgements. I am not sure whether you will be successful in trying to convince Bhutan citizens about JYT’s bad deeds as you mention. Perhaps you could convince the people much better if you yourself join a party and participate in the coming election. May be you are already into politics otherwise I don’t sense any reason why you hate him so much. For me, reading such articles will not change my idea on JYT because i trust my own conscience.
I don’t know about Teknath, but i know JYT is not Teknath. As for GNH, it is not JYT’s idea alone. It is our Kings’ advice on how to go about. There is a GNH committee which was formed upon instruction from our kings. How can you be patriotic as you say if you are against the wisdoms of our kings and against the Prime minister who are on the same side serving Bhutan. Precisely what advantages you are talking about that JYT is taking.
I am not saying, JYT is perfect, he is a human too and he can make mistakes. But as for me, he did well as PM. There are five registered political parties and lets vote for the best one. But let us not worry, election is just few months away. If JYT is a bad guy, he surely will lose election this time. If he is a good man, he still can win with big margins.
KIND ATTENTION—CHOLA
Can you please tell why DPT government fail to table RTI in the government and DPT government is weak to implement the Labour and employment Act. So far MoLHR has implemented safety gears in the construction sites and other then that it fail to implement the act as a whole. The MoLHR is mandated to check the compliance of the Act and rules and regulations to any company registered under company act of 2000 but did nothing. The MoLHR is suppose to create awareness at least in these companies.
DPT government did nothing to promote democracy and empower the masses. These is the test of DPT government and is not enough just basking on the majority in the parliament.
Dear Pem,
While I may be saying things in defense of DPT and JYT, I do not mean to proclaim that I am a DPT pundit. Neither am I from the MoLHR. You seem to be someone knowledgeable about the Labor and Employment Act; so you must be having the answer in yourself. But the question is more directed towards Lyonpo Dorji Wangdi and the people in his ministry. Ask them why they could not ensure compliance to the Act. They will be in the better position to answer than I am.
Your statement “DPT government did nothing to promote democracy and empower the masses” is irresponsibly menacing without any evidences. It is against such attitude of Bhutanese that I am opposed to.
Hello DORJI,
Thank you for your suggestion. This site has helped many by now, at least, in the sense JYT is a man to talk about. This site would not have gained this status had Govt. not attempted blocking it. As it did to bhutantimes.com in the past. The govt.’s intolerance attitude towards criticism has become the back-bone of this site.
Please find here with a comment once made by one of the contributors of this site on who is JYT and how he is in the mission in taking advantage of our HM’s good gesture.

” TASHI SAYS:
NOVEMBER 21, 2012 AT 12:39 PM
The part of Churkam’s article questioning JYT’s origins is not true. This is the true origin story of JYT so please listen up.
For those who don’t know JYT is the illegitimate grandson of Paro Penlop Tshering Penjore who was the ambitious brother of the second King and also wore the Raven Crown thinking himself equal to the Second King.
Paro Penlop Tshering Penjore in Ashi Dorji Om’s book ‘Rainbow and Clouds’ is shown to be a rude, corrupt, dangerous and exploitative leader who wanted to replace the second King as the King. He was also the one who masterminded the killing of the late Shabdrung
JYT’s grandmother and the mother of the third King’s Dronyer had JYT’s father (third Kings Dronyer) out of an illegeitimate wedlock with Paro Penlop Tshering Penjore. Please therefore observe the physical and pyschological attributes between Paro Penlop Tshering Penjore and JYT.
Physically both have balding hair, the same eyes, nose and physical apperance except that JYT is not as fat as the Penlop was.
Psychologically the terrible temper, dictatorail attitude, vindictive nature, conspiring and highly ambitious nature comes from the Penlop.
Many say JYT knows this and like his real grandfather feels that he is the real inheritor of the Bhutanese throne.
The DPT and PDP struggle is only and eyewash as JYT’s real struggle is with the Monarchy as he believes that genetically, historically and politically he should be the King of Bhutan if not in form then in power.
JYT in many ways cannot help it due to the genes passed down the line to him by his real grandfather who always plotted to overthrow the second king and also wore the Raven crown equally with the second king.

Guys, let us not make ourselves cheap by commenting on this antinational website!!!
It is no wonder that this website needs to be banned because it writing all non-sense storries about our glorious kingdom. Reedam for one is really anti-national. If our PM is really against the monarchy, why did the fourth Druk Gyalpo appoint him as the Dzonal administrator, permanent ambasador to UN and deputy minister before becoming the full minister? Why was he awarded the red scarf at a very young age? Why was he awarded the Druk Thuksey medal and Druk Wangyel medal (the highest award for a civil servant)? Our wise kings know and the people of Bhutan know very well who our PM is and that is why he always receives full support in any election.
In addition to Pelden Drukpa, if JYT was deemed as threat to Monarchy the 4th King would not have allowed his daughter to be married to JYT’s son. Reedem needs to be Redeemed. Otherwise, he or she will fuel animosity between the institution of Prime Minister and the institution of Monarchy in Bhutan. May be that is his intention to bring our country closer to the current status of Nepal.
We have to crush greedy people, all are related to big shot . How Rinchen Dorji of penden cement still going free how Damcho Dema doing business fronting by Indian partner how Riverview son sangye Wangchu being son inlaw of k4 brother inlaw of k5 and brother of son inlaw of Pm is doing business also nephew of Pm Palden Tshering and son Palden doing edu city .royal people should not be allowed to do business .they bully to get license and everyone is scared to anger them.
DPT should not win if they do balance everything will own by them .
If there should be a fair game in Bhutanese politics, the honorable members of DPT should back off and dissolve the party for the common good. Many capable people are hesitant to join any other parties because they fear that they will be greeted by the same fate as with PDP in 2008 so long as DPT remains like a giant bully in the match.
DPT has strategically made all favorable conditions to win in the next election. They have won the controversial CDG to influence villagers. They were able to extract forced contributions from the elected constituent members by raising their allowance to keep the offices running in each dzongkhag. They also used the government machinery to cover all areas they could not cover in their last campaign to convince the people that they are doing well for the country.
So where is the fair game? Unless the general electorate realizes the need for a change in leadership, I doubt there will ever be a new party taking control of the government in 2013.
Any aspiring party to win over DPT should offer something more contrasting to what DPT has already offered and has to offer for the next five years. I have read some of their manifestos and they all do favor to DPT by saying almost the same thing, except Druk Chirwang Tshogpa’s commitment to wipe the tears of villagers. Where is a new paradigm? This is something for the new parties and PDP to mull over at this critical juncture when the electorate is making critical decision to either keep or trash DPT.
To vote for DPT or not should also judged by how far the party has achieved its vision and mission, which for your reading pleasure and judgment are produced below:
Vision
A sovereign and prosperous nation of enlightened citizens committed to the pursuit of Gross National Happiness through growth with equity and justice, encompassing economic self reliance, social harmony, environmental integrity and political justice.
Mission
1. To realise the vision of His Majesty the King for a truly vibrant and progressive democracy wherein sovereign power will lie with the people and the purpose of government shall be to fulfill their hopes and aspirations.
2. To always strive to ensure that national unity, security, justice, fundamental rights and freedom are never compromised.
3. To abide by the Constitution and uphold the Rule of Law.
4. To persevere with endeavours to build and strengthen conditions for the happiness of the Bhutanese people.
5. To ensure stability and serve as a standard of constancy and trustworthiness amid the vagaries of party politics and the ever changing political landscape.
6. To establish standards and norms for party politics and behaviour by way of example so that parties and individuals choose to follow them or be so inspired, as to give all voters true and comparative choice.
7. To be guided, demonstrably, by the highest management and social ethics and principles so that the party shall be worthy of the loyalty of its own members and the trust and confidence of the people.
8. To recognize and give opportunity to potential leaders to rise to positions of political office irrespective of their social standing or economic status.
9. To govern, when given the mandate, with transparency, accountability and compassion in keeping with the ideals and purposes enshrined in the Constitution of our country.
By the way, what is Rinchen Dorji, Ex MD of Penden Cement doing now a days. Enjoying the money pocketed from PCA. Whatever happened to his case, he was fired from PCA for embezzling funds. Someone should file his case with ACC. So what it happened two decades ago, man is still alive, he should be charged.
Look at what some sick people are writing. And you think this site should not be banned? I suppose they will say that they are doing a service to the Tsa Wa Sum. What a laugh!
Only ugly remarks will come from ugly minds. Few people disliking the DPT will do no harm to the party. For every god born, a devil is born. So, there are some people disliking the PM. Anyway, good will always prevail in the lad of dharma and we will not let you down. Pessimistic people will never be satisfied whoever comes to power. I don’t think our glorious kingdom can be ruled by the likes of Thseing Tobgay, Sonam Tobgay, Lily Wangchuk and Jigme Zangpo. Bhutan deserves a better leader than them.
My dear countryman, brother and a fellow Palden Drukpa,
Greetings and good health.
First of all thank you for enlightening us and for being a true Drukpa, ‘Palden Drukpa’ the name says it all. Thank you for your observation on Jigme Thinley as well. But,I being a Bhutanese would like to make a little suggestion
Firstly, this website is not a ‘Ngolop’ website as you blatantly state. Its a canvas where we the critics or some may say the sceptics come and paint the picture of Bhutanese politics its metamorphosis, scenario and results. All I wanted to say is the usage of very word “Ngolop” and your continued comment contradicts your user name we Bhutanese are little reclusive when we come to revolting or revolution as a whole, it is not our cup of tea and definitely not mine either, but what do you reckon when branding our own kin-lings as ‘Ngolops’ the word is a bit on the wrong side of my vocabulary, I hope it must be an accident from your mind as well.
Furthermore your loosely built statement has a slight hint of racism in it (calling people on the forum ‘people with ugly minds’). We the people in this forum are bit narcissist, little frustrated, little observant, little educated and we love to call ourselves true Drukpas. But never have we or nor have we said other parties are better than others and never have we called anybody ‘Ngolop’. So, it is a sad situation when brothers start calling other brothers ‘Ngolops’ I believe the period of apartheid, the age of semantics, the Jim Gow period, the stolen generations is over, but its further saddening when a countrymen starts leaning towards branding one another ‘Ngolops’.
However, with all my knowledge and my non existence of know how of inside knowledge, through the eyes of a layman I sometimes feel all the accolades bestowed on Jigme Thinley measures up to nothing I believe, he has not fought a war unlike the same countrymen who fought for the country, I believe he has not build a mere farm road on the doorstep of a man who believes in his ability as a leader unlike the super highway on the opposite side of Serbithang, I believe he has not contributed to the dynamics of the country as much as a mere JICA volunteer does, I believe, the volunteers deserves better than him, I believe the mere representation of Bhutan as an ambassador does not quantify or qualify him to be branded the best, if it is so how about the most important and critical Bhutanese ambassador in India, I believe his achievement as the Zonal head has more flaws and bold underlining in it than a rookie bookkeeper. in saying this I am under no circumstances judging him nor am I saying he has not done his share, he might have or might have not, it may be in the papers or in his mind but there is not a tangible showing of his achievement (mind the singularity) that is what scares me. I guess he just got lucky with all the accolades, and I as a countrymen partly blame myself and my colleagues for elevating him for no achievements at all.
Lastly, if you do not want people to judge Jigme Thinley what do I call of you, when you can brand and deem the other party leader as not competent enough. I believe in the principles of freedom and right to information as always, I do believe in liberty, justice and equality hence, if one can deem the other party leader incompetent why is that Jigme Thinley be deemed incompetent as well.

As clean environment helps in keeping one healthy so is clean leadership keep nation healthy. Our need of the time is clean leadership with vision, mission and dedication. Nation seeks a leader who regards nation and peoples’ prosperity above everything. Nation asks the leader to forget nearer and dearer ones in terms of benefiting and reaching the opportunities. Nation wants leader to listen and feel what people say and require. The prosperity and happiness shall then be a ladder for everyone to climb.Everyone reserves the right to- preserve and enjoy the national resources,-receive up to date information and way and means to keep their say. Situation that guarantees the above stated elements are and should be the basis of the Gifted democracy in our small great nation. And, that is the only wish of our 4th King to give something to his loyal citizens in the form of gift.
Our leaders and the ruler could not understand the theme and inner content of the gift. Nearer and dearer ones always stood first, peoples’ say and suggestions sounded anti-national and irrational. Net-work of corruption given top priority and any complains made regarding abuse of authority by the rulers mostly gone unattended. And, this is going to be an established way of governance if continuity is given to the present day rulers. People are always kept in the dark, so they have very little or no information on what the rulers are doing. Same leaders are now packing lollipop to hoodwink the people kept in dark to collect votes. This type of trend may last temporarily but not always. No doubt, the present leaders in the power may gather required needed votes to give continuity to their lust in making by hook or crook, for they have the power in hand and no strong opposition in the field.
But, the question is Rule through the net-work of Corrupts OR Rule of Laws???. Till now no one has felt a sense of Rule of Law in the Nation. And, it cannot be possible though to even imagine from these corrupts and criminals.
Very basic example: What for Home Minister is??
Charged criminal occupies the esteemed position. Has anyone sensed a pinch of shy… pinch of shame in the face of our honorable Home Minister? May God bless him.
Speaker of the Esteemed National Assembly: Criminal Charged??? Don’t he feel very little sense of uneasy ….!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do they have sound sleep???
Home Minister then orders police to go and control corruption…..!!!!!! ha ha ha ha aha
What a mockery of GIFTED DEMOCRACY ??
So, here is a question for JYT
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Dear PM, are you in the position in speaking before going to the public for 2013 Election
” I JYT, as a PM of Bhutan here by assure my people that: if in any case I am found corrupt, misusing the power, benefiting any of my relatives with vested interest, safeguarding the criminals and deceiving people with any false promises I am ever ready to receive any punishment stated by the law of land on moral ground and let you people choose good and clean leader to serve the nation and make the democracy healthier” ??
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
What a good message would have gone to the public by now had Home Minister and Speaker resigned on moral ground and supported the Law.????
……to be continued….
,
Dear Jamyang Y S, Where did you find the word ngolop in my views? I never used and I cannot think of doing so. It’s yourself using the word without any hesitation. All I’m saying is that if you really think our PM is as bad as you describe to be, I wonder why he was awarded all the highest medals by our visionary kings and why people of Bhutan have given him the highest votes in 1998, 2003 and 2008? He is a human being and he can make mistakes. But he is definitely not the one as you describe to be. “having desire to become a leader is not enough, one should have the destiny as well”. So, it is his destiny that keeps him going.
@ Peldendrukpa translate the word anti national in Dzongkha and we think you are JYT’s boot licker people like you promote corruption in Bhutan shame on you
……. And his destiny to be the FIRST and SECOND democratically elected Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Despite what these cowards say behind the mask of anonymity, there is no other person after the 4th Druk Gyalpo who can lead the country with competence, wisdom and a level of selflessness that is rare among the Bhutanese.
It is of little or no consequence that there are people in Bhutan who wish to tarnish the image of our Prime Minister through slander and unfounded accusations of wrongdoing. Unfortunately, what is true cannot be disguised by falsehood. People understand the truth and accept them.
His Excellency Prime Minister JYT’s popularity and competence is recognized beyond the Bhutanese borders. His contribution to the world cause and the cause of the humanity is globally accepted. Therefore, what some disgruntled stragglers in Bhutan say is of no importance. If at all, it only serves to prove their own paltriness and evil intent. This is a human weakness; when one is incapable of goodness, they tend to downplay and even scorn, others’ superiority of character and ability.
DPT all the way. 2013, hope you win and hopefully all you MPs are content with what you greedily discussed and got in your first term that you do not have the appetite for anything in your second term. Lets vote for DPT! Lets give them another victory.
Ofcourse some writers are crossing boundary line by labelling PM as ngolop! Writer like Redeem has labelled PM as anti-monarchy and questioned his identity and used defamatory languages such as illegitimate grandson of a penlop. Who is the real ngolop? I don’t think our kings will award medals to Ngolops.
Not saying JYT is a ngolop, but our kings are humans too. With that said, they can make mistakes just like all of us. I can name a lot of red scarfed people(awarded by the kings) who are either behind bars or terminated from service due to the corrupt practices or carrying out other illegal things. Our kings are not supernatural Gods who can see the insides of every individual. JYT had me fooled, along with many others with his rhetoric, what are the chances that he is fooling our kings too? We never know!
@ DORJI
Please clear your ear. You believe in prosperity, progress and good governance right?
For all this to make possible man with mission, vision and dedication needed right?
This can be assumed and is possible from clean personality with out vested interest right?
So just tell me and the public, whether JYT is clean or corrupt !!! That’s it.
Had there been Rule of law in practice in the nation he should have been behind the bar. You very well know that. So if you feel he is very clean and is so called only leader with capacity to rule the nation (as some of you are stating), my question is is he in the position to say…
.” I JYT, as a PM of Bhutan here by assure my people that: if in any case I am found corrupt, misusing the power, benefiting any of my relatives with vested interest, safeguarding the criminals and deceiving people with any false promises I am ever ready to receive any punishment stated by the law of land on moral ground and let you people choose good and clean leader to serve the nation and make the democracy healthier” ??
I expect response from your end to this in your upcoming comment. Do not bit around the bush.Public deserve this from JYT through you, for you are representing JYT in this site more likely officially.
….. to be continued…
@ Redeem> When you say, JYT is corrupt, you think others will believe you just upon reading this plain statement? Better prove it with facts and evidence and why don’t you put up to acc. You are now even undermining the wisdoms of our kings saying that kings are not aware of the bad intention of JYT. Don’t you think, they know each other better than anyone of us? Mind you, they are in constant touch discussing national issues and they don’t have time to go through out posts here. Yes ofcourse, no one is perfect and so is JYT but are you looking for a perfect prime minister? Can you name a person 100% clean and without any limitation? Be realistic and come to term with reality. Don’t desire for things that is not possible. Such people are the frustrated lots and those who go mad. Don’t act as this world exist just because of you. You and I are nothing in the vast universe.
In addition to 16 Reason here is one more reason which add up to 17 reason of failures of the DPT Government ie Failure to table RTI Bill in the parliament and Inability or incapable of the DPT government to implement the Labour & Employment act 2007 and the rules & regulation thereof. these are the major failure of the DPT which fails to empower the weaker sections such as labourers or workers and masses in general. To sum up DPT Government fail to promote democracy and this will be the last weak government of our generation.
Pain wrote: “ Lyonpo Khandu and Lyonpo Zimba have had many opporunities to serve in the Ministry of Trade and Industries from Secretary to Minister and today what is the state of the private sector. Oh! think of change and hopefully the younger lot will bring in a whiff of fresh air and fuel the evolution brought forth by our wise leader the K4,”
This statement merit giving some thoughts! The majority public perception swings along these lines on why some of our non- performing older ministers in the likes of LKW, LYZ and LWN must now be replaced by the better younger lots. But, that doesn’t mean we have a better new party in the offing than the JYT’s DPT. Whether we like it or not, JYT to me is our best bet and this is something I want my children to understand so that they are aptly guided into taking the right decision in whatever they do in future for the greater national good.
Within some sections of the Bhutanese society, JYT has been branded as being very dictatorial and a terrible leader. But, this is downrightly untrue and I do not believe this rubbish. If some of the JYT’s tough actions in the past earned him this sticky tag, then, in this, I must say that like Guru Rimpoche, JYT had only taken the Guru Dorji Dorlo’s form for subduing the demons so that our undisciplined elites are taught the corrective lessons.
A good leader has to be selfless, bold and mustn’t give into the pressure groups easily. JYT, therefore, has exactly done the same on behalf of the lesser privileged Bhutanese citizens. I think we should thank him for that. I am also hearing that some new faces like DHI Infra KT, NC’s LNP and RICB’s NL are joining DPT. If that’s so, then, this is good news for us. We hope to see JYT’s new cabinet with a right mix of the experience and the new talents. Good luck JYT!
THE ONE BIG REASON IS JYT.. AUTHOR PLEASE ADD IT AS 17th
I would really say bhutanomics is fun to read and crack pity jokes. But Let me remind my fellow citizens that the most important duty is not to forget who took care of Bhutan in needs. Long live our kings. Rest the DPT should have done its part when the time was with them and hope any parties coming up should work for betterment of the land of the thunder dragon.tashi delek
Bhutanomic…..Please could you guys expose more of those corruption and corrupted leaders before it is too late.. You know country like India and Nepal ( our closest neighbour ). Why anti national and Moist are born in the country. The simple common reason is unjust and miss treatment of common innocent citizen.
Name anyone that would equal JYT. I don’t think there is anybody with the caliber that of JYT. Just wait and see after the election. The other parties could even get ZERO in the National Assembly.
Equal JYT in what? Arrogance? Lies? Rhetoric? Corruption? More lies?
Yes you are right. No one can equal him. Maybe Laloo Prasad can, too bad he’s not from Bhutan.
Tenzin Lamsang has already exposed a lot of corruption cases. Sometimes I feel that he should be rewarded with a Red Scarf by His Majesty because he is the only one to reveal corruption cases and is not scared of anyone.
I hope you are joking, if you have not noticed, Tenzing Lamsang is targeting only the PM and DPT, if he was fair in his reporting, I would be the first one to support you, however, TL is just tool who is being used by vested interest groups. Otherwise, come on there are so many other cases of corruption which he even refuses to acknowledge.
