Remember our Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley’s last visit to Samdrup Jongkhar in January which led to the Prime Minister proclaiming that Samdrup Jongkhar is the Dzongkhag which has achieved the least from among the 20 Dzongkhags! Little has our Prime Minister realized that Samdrup Jongkhar is rather the most neglected Dzongkhag from all the 20 dzongkhags. Are SJ’s representatives in Parliament reading this?
I do not know whose bright idea it was of breaking Namglam off from Samdrup Jongkhar and including it with Pemagatshel? How convenient and how easily was this done? Nanglam has an immense potential of making it big. With the cement plant in operation, it has the potential of earning great revenue for the Dzongkhag and the country. And with the completion of the Gyalpoizhing – Nanglam highway, Nanglam will become the hub of the East, connecting our eastern Dzongkhags of Mongar, Lhuentsi, Trashi Yangtsi, Pemagatshel, Trashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar to Guwahati and Bogaigaon.
Samdrup Jongkhar’s golden days are now over and gone. Thanks to our Prime Minister who is hell bent on doing great things for his electorate while disregarding another.
The villages of Samdrup Jongkhar are the most neglected; places like Shinkhar Lauri, Decheling, Jomotshangkha (Daifam), Pemathang (Bhangtar), Samrang, Wooling, Gomdar are places which are still living in the last century; as though they are not a part of our country. Perhaps this gullibility was the cause of it being prone to the seperatists from Assam coming in using force. People from Shikhar Lauri are simple folk who have traditionally been cowherds and make a living by working for wages. Yet our leader does not give a tinker’s damn to these ‘yongbas’ and yet has the audacity of branding their Dzongkhag in no uncertain terms, useless and one which has achieved the least. (Last year I think it was Samtse.) True leaders protect, support and nurture those who are less capable and do not deprive them of opportunity which is exactly what our PM has done. Anyway, he has the people of Pemagatshel eating out of his hand albiet at Samdrup Jongkhar’s expense.
I am not sure of this but a gynaecology centre or institute was in the pipeline for Deothang, given its central location and history. Women from the area would be have their gynae problems treated there. But this was not to be. Thanks to Zanglay and JYT, the centre has now been relocated to Pemagatshel! Perhaps someone can confirm this. But the bottom line is our PM seems to take out money from one pocket to put into another, from Samdrup Jongkhar’s pocket into Pemagatshel’s. Should Samdrup Jongkhar be given a step motherly treatment thus?

why not. they looks similar. Ugyen is also balding like PM. But of-course when it comes to manipulation and performance both MPs need to go a long long way. They will perhaps never achieve in this life time as is apparent from their ability and performence so far.
Yes PM was blunt to say that S/J has performed the poorest. It is the truth but it is painful to hear that especially from the PM who is suppose to perform as the head of the govt. He has already done mid term review spending huge sum of tax payers money. What has his govt done as a follow up? What has the two MPs been doing? Why blame gups who has little or no authority. yes s/j may be a neglected district but geo-politically it is an important district and gateway to the east. Also never under estimate the potential of shingkhar lauripas. There are lots of educated and capable people from there. I appeal to those capable people to join politics and bring changes to the people there.
i think JYT has done hair transplant… where he did, who paid????
i am also 4rm s/j and unhappy when PM visting at the last moment of his tenure and saying s/j is the least develop dzongkhag. He has not visit lauri geog. he wil never know hw vilage in this geog is? its 2 days walk 4rm road point. he could manage to visit till where road arrived( as road is under constrution in his tenure, road which is goinin to construct is approximately 50 km but they couldnt complte this much also in 5 years, ashame on them) and asked peoples from lauri geog to com for meeting. they walk up early in the morning and move towards him. how it would be , if he go to lauri geog himself than more people moving towards him? If v know that they would act that much smart, i would have not given mi vote to them. Regreting now, on top of not able to reach road to lauri geog and not visitin once , saying least development is what he know.
May be JYT took it positively to remark Samdrup Jongkhar as the least developed Dzongkhag so that the next government can give priorities for it.
Let our dream be to have GNH study center be built at “Shinkhar Lauri” rather than at JYT’s Daughter’s premises. Let our ultimate dream be GHN smiles from the remotest of the remote villages in Bhutan than from Japan, Brazil and New York.
Anyone has idea if our PM sometimes have his time to read the suggestions and eye opening antidotes supplied through this site?. He looks busy in Facebook!!! On reading all the posts and comments here in this site, if I were Pm I would have already addressed the nation and let everyone know that “your suggestions and comments posted on Bhutannomics has drawn my attention. I take this opportunity to thank you all for pointing out my errors. But it looks like he is still in deep sleep.
Dear Bhutanomics,
I am one of the Bhutanese youth, and this post is based on what I feel about Bhutanomics as a young mind of Bhutan.
I believe that Bhutanomics is hosted by a group of educated lots of Bhutan. And also, I appreciate your effort to highlight the mis-happenings in Bhutan. I am one of the regular and silent visitor of your website. I did not comment till now because I fear the language used by the anonymous users. I was once called mother f*** in The Bhutanese website. If so, there is no room for healthy discussion. Lately, numerous questions started to startle me in regards to your website. It is one of the highly viewed blog in Bhutan with high traffic. (More in my bloghttp://www.monutamang.blogspot.in/2013/03/bhutanomics-hall-of-defamation.html)
There is not a shadow of doubt that this website is owned, operated and administered by PDP and its allies. The way in which the the DPT government and MPs are harrowingly criticised for no fault of theirs only confirms this fact.
In a leaked conversation on facebook between OL and one of his supporters, OL has admitted that this website is designed and operated by PDP, the sole objective of which is to ruin and jeopardise the credibility of the DPT. The leaked conversation further revealed that it was the PDP themselves who blocked the website on their own, so that it would appear as if government blocked the website. Of course, OL vehemently denied PDP having anything to do with this website, but the mysterious way in which this website has now come back (after OL was implicated of designing and also blocking the website) demystifies everything.
So, you can fool some people some of the time; Some people all the time; but you can’t fool all the people all of the time.
Now, coming to the core issues of S/Jongkhar MP vs Pemagatshel MP, I don’t see an iota of logic or rationale in this topic.
First, Nganglam was separated from S/Jongkhar sometime in 2006 and not after the DPT government came to power. Since, Nganglam is geographically separated from S/Jongkhar, it is for the convenience of the people of Nganglam that it was integrated with Pemagatshel Dzongkhag, and not for any other reasons.
Second, the assertion that the villages of S/Jongkhar are ‘neglected’ is farfetched and preposterous. Obviously, it speaks volumes about the person who wrote this article…surely this person is a toadying ingnoramous who has not step out of his comfort zone in Thimphu. Except for Lauri, all other gewogs are now connected by motorable roads; Electricity coverage is 100% for 9 gewogs (except Lauri and Serthig); RWSS coverage is 98%; Mobile coverage is close to 98% for all the 11 gewogs; and Health and Education facilities have been augmented through establishment of new ones and maintenance of old ones.
The haphazard way in which you mention the names of places shows you are not even from S/Jongkhar (or at least somebody who has never been to S/Jongkhar post 2008). For e.g. Decheling is a village under Nganglam and not under S/Jongkhar.
Lastly, you are not sure what institute was to be established at Dewathang. It was not a gynae centre, but a District Hospital. As a matter of fact, you are not sure on anything. Your whole narrative is fraught with malapropism and stinging lies. The temporary halt in the construction of a district hospital at Dewathang has nothing to do with Lyonpo Zanglay or Lyonchen. It was halted because of a land dispute between RBA and the MoH. Since, the proposed construction site is under the jurisdiction of RBA (which is not under the government), government can do nothing unless RBA gives over the land. However, this has not hampered the delivery of servies to the people, because S/Jongkhar still has 2 hospitals, 3 BHU I and 11 BHU II.
Therefore, villages under S/Jongkhar are no more remote and backward and everything you wrote about S/Jongkhar are nothing but politically motivated lies.
Yes dorji this issue is totally political motivated and most are defaming DPT government, PM and the MPs. Whether the DPT govt. has neglected them or not can be proved only by the people of S/jongkhar, if you are really from there go once and see the truth, don’t believed everything by reading all the nonsense comments posted here.
Truth hurts, don’t it? I rest my case.
The only truth I see here is that this website has been created by PDP and the likes of you to make DPT look bad. You may try to bring down the image of DPT with half baked lies and outright fictitious accusations, but at the end, you’ll be disappointed, because, people of Bhutan can easily see through your lies and propaganda.
I comment on topic depending upon the opinion. Opinion in the sense DORJI share the fact 50% and 50% incorect and bluffing. This website is neither created by PDP nor DPT but the people of country who have sympathy heart. Theres still gewogs unconected by road n s/j. Where is there promise of connecting all gewog? I know DORJI is DPT party where he want to regain once more in next election by saying what he write above but sorri that we dont want to see who just say promise nd fulillin their tsa wa sum. Due to JYT many uncapable candidates are get elected. some having problem in speaking, some cannot even raise issue of their constituencies, some ministers taking all budget to their constentuency, that ia why some geog in s/j are unconnected with road as there is no ministers and no capable candidates. JYT and almost all ministes talks about GNH. BUt i dont think GNH realli exit in country specially in remote village like what DORJI has cited. GNH is only for these people. THese people include high officials. Govt even restricted to media. I dont belive in media that govt has undertaken specially when comes in political news. There willl only good part of them and unfavourabe news will be elliminated. What is this? Is it GNH so that people are happy looking false idea.
@DORJI
Thank you so much for finally exposing your true color. The very matter you have stated in % bases are exactly the same as narrated to me by one of the officials. Here I cannot and don’t make his name public. Now I have full doubt that the above stated ( made data) is fully prepared inside a room in a team and through you it is presented in defense.
I beg pardon Dorji if it was just a coincidence!
Otherwise,
This clearly shows how hard time JYT and his team has to undergo to hide the truth. Thank that official you let me knew. Well done Bhutanomics. You are ,for sure, the only opposition in the nation. Your approach is seen much more powerful than demonstrations on streets.
@ REDEEM
The information I presented above has been collected through formal surveys, involving experts and respective government leaders. If you doubt the authenticity and validity of the data, the onus is on you to disprove it. However, just as you doubt the authenticity of my data, I would not agree with your argument unless your disapproval comes from a formal survey like ours. While it takes a moment to bring up contentious issues on a forum like this, it takes quite an effort, time and resources to establish the validity on an issue.

Dear Dorji, I hope you are not MP ugyen dorji. Whatever and whoever you are, I do not understand why you have to blame PDP for this. If what you are saying is true, then please provide evidence. Otherwise you seem be trying to divert the attention from the real issues. It also creates bad blood between parties unnecessarily which will have further unseen consequences. Parties are there to stay and we must learn to appreciate and live with differences in a spirit of democracy.
You may not like it but this type of forum provides real insights on many issues which people are normally afraid to talk not because we are not a democratic country now but we are not practicing democracy in essence.
It also shows that you are intolerant and inimical to criticism even though you claim to represent us and practice democracy. The truths are painful and not many like it. It was the PM himself who said it in public. So what is wrong? Whoever is behind this article, there are truths in it.
You claim to know the ground realities but it appears otherwise. I am also from S/J and I am afraid I know little about it. However, recently I was in the villages there and was surprised to see not much has happened especially in lauri gewog. Even basic things like hygiene and sanitation has remained the same. No proper toilets or good footpaths. The villages looks a forlorn and weary. Only old and weak are in the villages. The services have also remained the same. Children are still getting physical punishment in schools, Chillies are dying which once used to be a lucrative cash crop, horses are dying but what has our concerned Leaders done? We have still not forgotten the incident of OHSS where we lost two young lives and many are still suffering from the consequences of that episode. What have you done? The BHUI at Daifam is still without a doctor since inception. This BHU is also very dirty and not well kept. Has our honourable MP ever visited the hospital or Bhus and talked about the issues? I am afraid not. Deothang is without Gyno which was there in the past. S/J hospital has only one medical officer which in the past used to have 2 doctors always given the population there. Is this the sign of improvement?
Your figures look impressive. By that standard it looks like everything is alright there but it is not. The daifam town is another example of failure there. It looks forsaken and haunted like.
You are also projecting or saying as if all these progress were done in the last five years by this govt. Of course it is not. Many of these facilities were already there before or were in the pipelines eg road to lauri started way back in 2004? And even after 7plus years of starting it has just completed 1/3 of it according to the media reports. What has our peoples representatives doing all these while? Were they sleeping. We are infact lagging behind Meraksaktang or even layaps! What a progress ya.
What have you to say when the PM himself said S/J has performed the poorest? Pl be realistic in your assessment and comments. Be modest. Of course people will judge you when they go to polling booths soon. If you have done well you will be reelected if not they will vote you out. That is people’s power. Just do not simply depend on those figures provided by some department or dzongkhag officials but do little bit of research and co-relate and then comment.
Hello Dorji and JYT paid Team:
Please do stand in front of the mirror and ask yourself :
“How long can we fool people? This time with all our efforts we couldn’t make Monger Court make decision in our favor.
This is one of the biggest slap and set-back in our mission of Net-work of Corruption. We tried but could not hide the truth”.
JYT lead govt. , for sure, is a team of corrupts. Imagine what sense of Good Governance poor people may expect from Criminal Home Minister? What security a Criminal might have provided to the innocent people till date? Shame JYT!!!
Jigme Tshultim: Speaker of esteemed National Assembly. You will not have even a space in hell. People cannot raise their head up with any sense of pride being Bhutanese when they recall your Dirty face. Imagine what JYT had in the plan by making Criminals Speaker and Home Minister of the nation?
These Hells should be given punishment of highest degree for:
1. Serving the nation for five years being Criminal.
2. Deceiving HM’s pious approach.
3. Deceiving poor people
4. Working against the Rule of Law
We have doubt though. JYT will arrange very good haven for these two Goondas. As far as Thrimthue is concerned – these two in reality should not be allowed to pay. Their crime to the nation is very high above that.
Now my question is:
Are such people TRAITORS or PATRIOTS?
That’s why time and again I am letting you all know that JYT is selling GNH Cake overseas with different intentions.
@Dorji
This website has not been created by the alias of PDP or any other parties to defame the govt. The reason things are alys up against DPT is because they are the ruling govt and in power to execute. The PDP is only opposition party and has not done any corruption so far.
well as for S/jongkhar PM is concerned I heard from various sources that he’s ashamed of his peasant parents and when his parents visit from the far East he let his folks stay over with some relatives and not with him. I heard his own constituency people saying they will not vote again for a person who does not know his own roots. I too believe a person with such values can never be good to the nation or its people. I don’t appreciate such behaviors.
I feel that, to blame DPT at this stage is needs more justification on the following criminal cases also.
1.Chang Ugyen land case.
2.Trowa movie hall building and land case.
3.The procurement of Bhutan postal buses.
4.The laptops supply to the school teachers at low cost and installment.
5.The per-selection of relatives and chamchas for the C.E.O and senior post in
the corporations and Government departments.
6.The construction of luxury hotel in the paddy field at Trashigang.(against the law)
7.The purchase and engagement of excavators/vehicles by MPs and ministers in the name of relatives in mega construction projects run by outsiders at high rates.
Regarding samdrupjongkhar MP no match to JYT,I should say.. both has big ego, bald head and short temper but JYT has power in hand and MP has zero in hand. B ut… but.. MP has enough time to grow bigger and improve his weakness, whereas JYT has limited time .
But caution to general public,.. if samdrupjongkhar MP able to retain his political tenure in longer period.. he will be more egoistic and clever than present JYT.
How about the other MP from that district? Can she be like them? How has he fared in the last five years? What are his advantages?
